Who am I?

My name is Michael and I’m a hobby photographer based in Lund, Sweden. I’m mainly photographing cityscapes and architecture, as that is something that is always around me. A true city boy I guess. Every now and then I might mix it up with some landscape photography if I feel adventurous and go out of town.

I’m born and raised in Malmö, the third largest city in Sweden. As I grew up the city changed. While I was studying natural science and multimedia engineering, I followed the construction of the Oresund bridge slowly reaching out to Copenhagen. The housing expo Bo01 grew into a completely new part of the city, Västra hamen, close to the sea.

Sometimes my father and I took the car to Bo01 to watch the progress of Calatrava’s Turning Torso as it rose towards the sky to become the tallest building in Scandinavia. Soon enough big companies made a new home in Malmö and the city had transformed from a boring industrial town to a modern IT and business city and continues its journey along those tracks. This transformation is a big inspiration to some of my photos.

In 2020 I moved to the medieval university town of Lund, just north of Malmö. Here I can enjoy the flat farmland landscape just outside my window. If I get tired of that, I can go into town and admire the old buildings and the village feeling, take a break at a cozy café.

Since 2008 I’m working as a software test engineer. This means that I spend my days hunting for bugs and being the advocate for a better software user experience. My spare time is otherwise spent on gaming and being the chairman of the board of my housing association.

Best regards,
Michael Persson
