My name is Michael Persson, and I am a fine art and architectural photographer based in Lund, Sweden. I have always been a city boy at heart, which naturally draws my lens toward cityscapes, historical architecture, and the geometry of the built environment.

Growing up in Malmö, the third largest city in Sweden, I watched my hometown transform from a traditional industrial hub into a modern city. I vividly remember taking the car down to the harbor with my father to watch the construction of Santiago Calatrava’s Turning Torso as it slowly rose to become the tallest building in Scandinavia. Watching that structural and architectural evolution deeply inspired the way I view urban landscapes today.

In 2020, I moved just north to the medieval university town of Lund. Here, my work found a new rhythm. I love the contrast of having sweeping, flat Skåne farmlands right outside my window, while just a short walk away, I can lose myself in centuries-old streets, historical buildings, and the sometimes bustling atmosphere of this university town.

Since 2008, I have worked as a software test engineer. Spending my days hunting for bugs and advocating for the best possible user experience has given me a highly analytical eye, which is something that carries over directly into my photography.

When it comes to my artistic process, I believe photography should strive to be as close to reality as possible. My philosophy is simple: I want to convey the exact feeling, light, and atmosphere of a place just as I experienced it. Because of this, you will never find AI-generated elements in my work. I shape my artistic vision using traditional digital darkroom techniques such as adjusting colors and exposure, dodging, burning, and masking. The only time AI or healing tools are permitted in my workflow is strictly for cleaning up small defects, such as sensor dust spots or minor unwanted distractions.

When I am not behind the camera or fine-tuning a print for an installation, I spend my spare time unwinding with management and simulation games, always appreciating a well-designed system.
